Hey, everyone! So if you guys have been watching my Instagram (@blackgirlmedicine), you might have noticed that I have not been keeping up with my keto diet as well as I should be. Here are the reasons why:
Keto friendly foods can be expensive. The healthier stuff is usually more pricey. I have found my way around it, but that stuff adds up.
Preparing dinner in a timely matter has become more difficult. A lot of keto friendly foods take a long time to prepare, which is not ideal for a pre-med grad student who has to study for most of the day.
When stress hits, the keto diet just makes you crave more. I find that I want more unhealthy foods on this diet than when I wasn’t following one. This could be because I did not realize how much junk I ate or wanted to eat when I didn’t have restrictions.
You have to figure the diet out for yourself, which takes time that I don’t have. You have to find what keto-friendly items you prefer and what you don’t like and how to make certain foods taste better all while needing to prepare a meal quickly. In the end, I just fix something fast and easy, which aren’t usually keto-friendly.
As of now, I just choose things that are better for my body, in general. I have been eating vegetable soups and just picked up some fresh veggies from Walmart today. I still am following the diet at times since I have so many keto-friendly foods that I need to eat. However, I won’t be following the diet as strictly as I was. During exam weeks, there just isn’t time to figure out what I can fix when I need to be studying.
If anyone has any recommendations on how to maneuver this issue, let me know by commenting below. I will still be sharing keto-friendly recipes, just not as often. Hope you understand.
Thanks for visiting my blog! Be sure to check out my other posts. There is more to come soon! Until then be kind and remember tomorrow depends on what you do today. Hope you enjoyed reading! — Taylor ❤
